Maaco Golf Tourney To Benefit Children's Miracle Network
Release date: June 01, 2012
Maaco President David Lapps, joined by franchisees, corporate executives, employees, and suppliers, will present a giant symbolic check to the Children's Miracle Network on June 13 at 6 p.m. at the Spring Ford Country Club in Royersford, Pa.
Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting is based in King of Prussia, so it's fitting that area franchisees will come through for CMN in a big way. The 23 franchises in the 425-store chain's biggest region will lead the way at Maaco's third annual golf outing on behalf of CMN's work at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
The money will be used to give children the attention they need whether or not insurance covers that personalized interaction.
The late Anthony A. Martino founded Maaco in 1972 with a store in Wilmington, Del. The Philadelphia franchising legend had previously founded and sold the AAMCO Transmission franchise chain.
Maaco became part of Driven Brands in 2008. Meineke Car Care centers, also part of Driven Brands, have also supported CMN for several years. Maaco's contribution will be the most ever raised by either Maaco or Meineke. The Maaco employees in King of Prussia have been raising money all year through car washes and other events. Corporate sponsors of the golf outing include DuPont, PPG and Sherwin-Williams.
At two previous annual tourneys for CMN, Maaco President Lapps presented checks for $25,000 and $50,000. Maaco will try to again double the previous year's total and present the check to CMN at CHOP representative Robin Valentino and a family helped by the charity.
